Jane Dimond      Journalist | Writer | Communicator

Hello, and welcome!

I'm Jane Dimond, a journalist and communicator with more than 25 years' experience. I've worked across the UK's leading media brands, including the BBC, ITV, News UK, Future, Hearst and Bauer Media.

I love words – whether to communicate news and information – or to entertain.

I have a track record of generating innovative ideas and compelling content, and pride myself on my versatility, covering everything from news and sport to entertainment, lifestyle and spirituality.

Career highlights include devising and writing the long-running 'pop psychology' celebrity interview series 'In The Chair' for TV Times, in which I explored the true personality behind the public persona of numerous famous people, from Ronnie Barker to Ricky Martin, Michael Parkinson to Peter Kay, Jo Brand to June Brown. I also created the interview series 'Woman to Woman' for Woman, and have written features for numerous other magazines and the national press, including The Sun and Daily Mirror. I have a reputation for integrity and discretion, securing sought-after interviews with tabloid-wary actors, sports stars and TV personalities.

I've also worked in television, as a producer on the ITV topical debate show Thursday Night Live, presented by Andrew Neil, and a film director and associate producer on ITV's daytime magazine show Capital Woman. I'm a confident communicator, and have appeared as a guest commentator on several TV programmes, whilst my PR experience includes collaborating on campaigns such as Bride of the Year and media-training finalists on The X Factor.

My digital journalism includes news and sports reports for BBC News & Current Affairs and features for IPC Magazines' website. I'm currently providing editorial support and idea generation for fan-owned AFC Wimbledon's social media fund-raising campaign.

Interviewing numerous high-profile figures and members of the public deepened my interest in personality dynamics and led me to formally study astrology, and I've written astrology features and Sun sign columns for various magazines, including Company, Spirit and Destiny, More!, Inside Soap and Chat: It's Fate.

A wide range of my published features can be viewed in the Cuttings sections or on my LinkedIn profile.

Contact:

I'm always interested in exploring new career opportunities that excite me; please contact me to discuss, or if you'd like to see my full CV.  Key skills and services are detailed here.

Qualifications:                                                                                                               * BA (1st Class Hons) in Creative and Professional Writing, St Mary’s University, London (studied part-time as a mature student).

* Certificate in Periodical Journalism, London College of Printing: one-year, full-time course accredited by the NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) and PPA (Periodical Publishers Association). I've also recently completed Copywriting for Journalists, a course run by Jackie Barrie in conjunction with journalism.co.uk.

* QTS (Qualified Teacher Status): motivated to train during the Covid pandemic, occasional supply teaching in 2023-24 enhanced my skill set, particularly in inclusivity, diversity and task/time management, but journalism remains my first and overriding love and I'm focusing full-time on writing again.

* Astrology: Certificate in Astrology, including distinction in birth chart interpretation, Faculty of Astrological Studies, London.

Interests/about me:

I'm particularly passionate about wildlife and football (I'm a founder member and season ticket holder at AFC Wimbledon, the club set up by fans after Wimbledon FC was franchised), and I'm a news and politics junkie. I'm the proud mum of three teenage boys, including a rescue dog I adopted from the RSPCA, and my love of wordplay extends to writing rhyming humorous picture books - my first title, Clear off, Crow!, was awarded the accolade of reader's favourite in the Write Mentor Children's Book Awards.
